Christmas Memoir

That time of the year has come, when the streets of City of Joy gets lighted. The glitzy Park Street reminds us.... YES IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!!! The irresistible aroma of "Ma-made fruit-cake", "Karaishutir kochuri", "Gajorer halua" and "Nolen gurer payesh" brings back happy memories of childhood. The innocent-belief of a child's mind that “He's making a list, And checking it twice; Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice, Santa Claus is coming to town” brings back a glimpse of smile. Though the cold winds from North; the faded brown leaves; the shawls, monkey-caps and woolly-coats are declaring that we are in MID-WINTER, but "Borodin" brings back SPRING in the heart of the denizens of Kolkata.

P.S. Some songs have the power of creating visualization in front of your eyes. Here's a special song for all of you......Please close your eyes and listen.....This song creates the visualization of a starry night, the moon peeping out from the dispersed blanket of white fluffy clouds, snow covered trees, bells ringing at a distance and so many things which brings the essence of CHRISTMAS.....

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you....

Springy moment in a rainy day

After a long long time was feeling the inner urge of writing something......to get lost in my thoughts and to express my thoughts in concrete words.  Today its quite cold, temperatures are below normal in Kolkata. Sudden cold winds from the west along with light drizzles have stopped the entry of "Season of Colors" for some time. For the last few years, the Kolkattans are just experiencing 3 seasons....scorching summer, never ending monsoon and a brief winter. Our hearts are crying for autumn and spring......However the "God of all seasons" have restricted the entry of the two most adorable, colorful and lovable seasons.

To get a feeling of the seasons I adore, I decided to listen "Four Seasons" by the Red Headed Priest with my eyes closed. And yes........ I can see, touch and smell Spring - The long lines of fiery red Krishnachura trees, the fluffy happy clouds floating across a brilliant blue sky. Thank you Vivaldi for gifting me a gorgeous springy moment in a gloomy rainy day.
